WonderHere circles parents, families, educators, policy makers together around the conversation of educational freedom and challenges one to think differently about what "school" could look like. For nearly a decade our school has taken many forms, free from desks and letter grades, occurring in a storefront or on a farm . . . This inventing of school, this experimenting with education . . . The work of WonderHere has always been about challenging the norm in order to find a better way forward for our young learners.

These kids are raised by wonder.

They have never sat in a desk. They have never walked in a line. Their ideas have never been quieted and their busy feet have never been settled.

They are free to play and consider and challenge. And you know what, they thrive!

We aren't fighting against public school, we are f

We aren't fighting against public school, we are fight FOR childhood. For the child's right to be with their family. For the child's right to play. For a child's ideas to be valued. For a child's right to be heard. For the joys of learning to be the focus. For the child to be the center of their education and not a standard or marketplace competition.

School shouldn't be a place where children are quieted, grouped, and measured. Things don't grow when shoved in a corner or crowded in a classroom. Children don't magically learn faster just because some policy written by someone with no knowledge about how childhood works places a deadline or a standard on it.

When we (@raising.wonders + @jessica.zivkovich) quit our teaching jobs in 2016 to open our little learn & play studio in the heart of our favorite city, we could not have imagined what it would grow to become all these years later.

Now, our studio has grown beyond its original walls and out into the wide world with a farm, into another state, and serving hundreds of families day to day with more wonder and learning on the way.

2025 will be a year to remember, with WonderHere expanding its reach in so many exciting ways. And in order to do all that we are called to do with this amazing dream of a school and community and company, the first of many exciting announcements for WonderHere 2025 is this . . . 🥁 🥁 🥁

To ensure our primary location, @wonderherelakeland, continues to be cared for as we grow, we are so excited to announce that our beloved @amandathenor has just stepped into her new role as Site Director for the Lakeland location.

This means that we (@raising.wonders & @jessica.zivkovich) will be stepping out of our day-to-day roles at the school to focus our energies where they are needed now with @wonderherepress, also working within our non-profit WonderHere Education Foundation, and other new projects we cannot wait to announce soon 😉.

Until then . . . Please help us welcome Amanda as our fearless Lakeland Site leader. She has always been on our team in one capacity or another, but we are so excited to see how she leads our baby, WonderHere Lakeland. ❤️

From a parking lot downtown to a 10 acre farm . . . we are never not grateful when we stop to consider where we have been, how hard it's been to get where we are, and all of the amazing families we are surrounded by today.

Our website literally used to say "not a school" u

Our website literally used to say "not a school" under our name as the tagline 🫣, because the word "school" had become such a bad word for us. As disillusioned former public school teachers heartbroken with the state of the system we had to walk away from, we determined that the learning environment we imagined would look nothing like the one we just left.

Fast-forward 9 years of asking questions, solving problems, trying and trying again . . . we have been busy re/imagining as a team what a school could mean for kids and families if it were something filled-with wonder.

We are so proud of this SCHOOL that we have built, and proud of all the other, different, unique, non-traditional tiny schools popping up all around the nation just to prove to the bigger-badder machine that is the public education system that we can and that we are hear for good.
