The Homeschool Conference
In a world full of “shoulds,” we’re choosing simplicity for our homeschool journeys. This conference is about releasing unrealistic expectations, embracing meaningful moments, and finding a rhythm that works for your real life.
You might be a seasoned homeschooler… or perhaps you’re just starting out.
You might approach homeschooling from a secular lens… or perhaps a faith-based perspective.
You might be homeschooling one kids… or maybe ten.
You might be a mother, father, grandmother… or maybe a passionate educator taking other children under their wing.
You might ascribe to any one of these homeschool styles: project-based, classical, unschooly, Charlotte Mason, traditional, Montessori, Waldorf.
You might be a mix of those… or might not even know what those words mean (and that’s ok).
The Homeschool Conference is a welcoming space for families from all walks of life to find support and encouragement. Join us May 22-23 at Somos Church in Lakeland, Florida. Connect with other homeschooling families, peruse curriculum and resources, share experiences, and be reminded you’re not alone on this journey.
Yvette Henry
Yvette Henry is a former public school teacher turned homeschooling mom of four, writer, and podcast host who is passionate about being proof that a life rooted in intentionality, connection, and truth is possible. She is the author of Release, Rest, Remain: A 30-Day Devotional to Embrace Abiding Over Striving, and co-hosts the How Married Are You?! podcast with her husband, where they share honest conversations about navigating home life and partnering in raising their children. Through her work, Yvette encourages parents to approach homeschooling as an opportunity to cultivate connection, purpose, and growth—leaving audiences feeling equipped, inspired, and anchored in what matters most.
Talk Title: Release, Rest, Remain: A Simpler Way. Homeschooling can easily become overwhelming as we try to do more, be more, and keep up. This session invites you to release unrealistic expectations, embrace a posture of rest, and remain rooted in what truly matters. You’ll leave feeling lighter and equipped with a simpler, more grounded approach to homeschooling that prioritizes presence over pressure.
Ainsley Arment
Ainsley Arment is the founder of Wild + Free, a global community that inspires families to pursue a life of learning, wonder, and connection. She is the author of The Call of the Wild + Free, The Wild + Free Family, and the forthcoming children’s book Grow Wild, My Child (August 2026). She lives with her husband Ben and their five children, three dogs, and four guinea pigs in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she enjoys year-round sandy feet and salty lips. | @ainsl3y
Talk Title: The Four Essential Stages of a Living Childhood. We’re all here because we believe something different about childhood—that it’s meant to be protected, prolonged, and preserved. But there’s an inconvenience to raising children this way. The siren call of culture and the pull of peers are always drawing us toward what’s easy and expected. And yet, the most challenging parts of childhood are often the most formative. These are the four crucial stages that determine what is kept… and what is lost.
Leslie Martino
Leslie Martino has over twenty years of experience teaching—as an elementary school teacher, a home educator, and an adjunct lecturer for graduate courses focused on the role of the teacher in supporting children’s individual work preferences. She homeschools her four children and works as an educational consultant, writing curricula, training teachers, and coaching parents to approach learning in an interest-based and child-directed way. She is a speaker on topics of education and motherhood and is also a contributing writer for the Wild + Free homeschooling community.
Leslie Martino is the author of the book The Joy of Slow: Restoring Balance and Wonder to Homeschool Learning with TarcherPerigee/PenguinRandomHouse. She is also the creator of the Thrive at Home Coaching Program, designed to help homeschooling moms find clarity and confidence, and learn practical skills for becoming more capable educators, especially in mentoring self-directed learners. Leslie and her husband are originally from New York City but now live in Central Florida. Leslie loves connecting with others, exploring new things and places, reading, and creative endeavors.
Talk Title: A Return to What Matters Most. What we come back to isn’t new, but it is often what we’ve slowly left behind. This talk is an invitation to step away from noise, pressure, and the subtle drift toward performance in home education. Leslie will explore how learning begins to flourish again when families reorder their days around relationship, attention, and meaning.
