This game makes practicing vowel teams FUN! Your child will practice the following vowel teams: oa, oe, ai, ay, oi, oy, ai, ee.
What you need:
-
2 wooden cubes (from a craft store or big box retail store)
-
Permanent marker
-
About 20 game pieces per player
-
1 game board per player
How to prep:
-
Print the game boards on cardstock.
-
Laminate them to make them last longer (optional)
-
Write a vowel team on each of four sides of the wooden cube (use the four vowel teams that appear on one game board).
-
Draw a star on the remaining two sides.
-
Be sure that each player selects a game board with the same vowel teams on them.
Directions:
-
Each player takes one game board.
-
The first player rolls the die and reads a word from the column of the vowel team rolled.
-
Then they place a marker on it.
-
If a column is filled and a player rolls that vowel team, they lose a turn.
-
If a player rolls a star, they can read any word from any column.
-
The player who fills their game board first is the winner.
