Look out for text features (captions, glossary, italics, bold print, diagrams, labels, and lots more) in your child’s favorite books!
What you need:

Your child’s favorite non-fiction book

Scissors
How to prep:
- Print the pages
- Cut out the Text Feature Cards
- Optional: laminate the Text Feature Cards and “I Spy” Lookout Page
Directions:

Have your child review the text features cards to gain a better understanding of each different feature.

With their favorite book in hand & the “I Spy” Lookout Page, have your child go searching in the book for different text features.

Have your child cross off the text features they find along the way!

Extension: Laminate or place the lookout page in a clear page protector & grab an expo marker. Keep using this page with other non-fiction books for extra practice!
