Adults need to play, too! With their kids and with Adults need to play, too! With their kids and with their own friends. Play does not expire with age... it enhances life, establishes creativity, and fosters connection. Peter Grey, an expert on the biological and academic benefits to play says, "Perhaps play would be more respected if we called it something like 'self-motivated practice of life skills, but that would remove the lightheartedness from it and thereby reduce its effectiveness.'" It is not a break from the "important stuff" . . . Play simply is the IMPORTANT stuff of life. It is rest and it is reestablishing what matters most as priority. How do you prioritize play in your home?

For a child's ideas to be valued. For a child's right to be heard. For the joys of learning to be the focus. For the child to be the center of their education and not a standard or marketplace competition. School shouldn't be a place where children are quieted, grouped, and measured. Things don't grow when shoved in a corner or crowded in a classroom. When we (@raising.wonders + @jessica.zivkovich) qu When we (@raising.wonders + @jessica.zivkovich) quit our teaching jobs in 2016 to open our little learn & play studio in the heart of our favorite city, we could not have imagined what it would grow to become all these years later. Now, our studio has grown beyond its original walls and out into the wide world with a farm, into another state, and serving hundreds of families day to day with more wonder and learning on the way. 2025 will be a year to remember, with WonderHere expanding its reach in so many exciting ways. And in order to do all that we are called to do with this amazing dream of a school and community and company, the first of many exciting announcements for WonderHere 2025 is this . . . 🥁 🥁 🥁 To ensure our primary location, @wonderherelakeland, continues to be cared for as we grow, we are so excited to announce that our beloved @amandathenor has just stepped into her new role as Site Director for the Lakeland location. This means that we (@raising.wonders & @jessica.zivkovich) will be stepping out of our day-to-day roles at the school to focus our energies where they are needed now with @wonderherepress, also working within our non-profit WonderHere Education Foundation, and other new projects we cannot wait to announce soon 😉. Until then . . . Please help us welcome Amanda as our fearless Lakeland Site leader. She has always been on our team in one capacity or another, but we are so excited to see how she leads our baby, WonderHere Lakeland. ❤️
