This game helps with identifying beginning sounds of common words with visual aides!

What you need:

  • Clothespins
  • Scissors
  • Laminator (optional)

How to prep:

  • These strips are meant to review letter sounds. There are 26 of them.
  • Print them on cardstock and laminate them so that they last longer (optional).
  • Cut the strips apart and place them out with some clothespins.

Directions:

  1. For each strip, the child will clip the picture that starts with the letter on the left.
  2. If you want the child to be able to self-check his work, draw a colored dot on the back of the card indicating where the clip should be. That way, the child can turn the card over and see whether or not he has chosen the correct picture.
  3. Alternatively, the adult can hole-punch the cards, placing them on a ring, and simply flip through them, having the child point to the correct picture.
